Google announces Pixel Watch

May 12, 2022

After years of speculation, Google enters the smartwatch market as it unveils the Google Pixel Smartwatch at the Google IO 2022 event on May 11.
Though the presentation didn’t reveal much, it did confirm the smartwatch is coming in the fall alongside the Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro.
As stated in the Google I/O presentation, Google’s Pixel Watch is made of recycled stainless steel with customisable bands. It features an improved Wear OS UI with voice-enabled functions, Fitbit integration and apps such as Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Home.
It also features the new app called Google Wallet – a rebranded version of the older Google Pay app. Basic smartwatch features such as a step counter and heart monitor will be available as well.
At the latest Google I/O event, Google also revealed their upcoming Pixel 6a and Pixel 7 smartphones, as well as Pixel Buds Pro and Android 13.
Despite many leaks about the device, no price has been mentioned yet for the Pixel Watch.
