Ranjan Ram wins double
Ranjan Ram claimed the double crown in the Victory Day Tennis Championship winning the titles of men’s singles and double on Sunday. Ranjan Ram of National Tennis Complex (NTC) defeated Amal Roy of Engineers Club 7-5, 6-3 in the men’s singles final at Ramna National Tennis Complex in Dhaka.
Ranjan, paired with Amal Roy, defeated Dipu Lal and Alamgir Hossain of Nordic Club 6-3, 6-7 and 6-3 in the final to clinch the men’s doubles title.
Disha Islam (NTC) emerged women’s singles champion defeating teammate Sathi Sarker 6-3, 2-6 and 6-1 in the final to ensure her supremacy in the event.
Earlier, Sathi Sarker and Sharmin Alam, both from NTC, captured the women’s doubles title defeating Disha Islam and Barsha Islam, also from NTC, 6-2 and 6-0 in the final on Saturday.
State Minister for Science, Information and Commu-nication Technology Yafez Osman distributed prizes among the winners as chief guest after the final. President of Bangladesh Tennis Federation M Shahriar Alam, MP, General Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Karen and other officials were also present on the occasion.
