The authorities of Koloshindur High School in Mymensingh, on Thursday suspended its physical teacher Jobed Ali after he allegedly assaulted the father of a National Under-16 women footballer.
Sabuz Miah, father of U-16 player Taslima, alleged that he was physically assaulted by Jobed after an argument over girls’ participation in National Summer Football Tournament, organised by the ministry of education.
Jobed Ali wanted the girls to play in the tournament for the school, the alma mater of nine Under-16 national women footballers.
The girls refused to oblige as they said they have Under-16 national camp beginning on September 17.
An altercation ensued following which Jobed allegedly manhandled Sabuz Miah, who later filed a case with the local police station in this regard.
Jobed, who went hiding after the incident, could not be reached for comments.
The incident happened a day after the same group of Under-16 players allegedly faced harassment in a bus on their way to home after the AFC Under-16 qualifying campaign, where they emerged unbeaten champions.
