February 20, 2015

Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra kicked off their Federation Cup campaign with style as they crushed out Uttar Baridhara Club with a huge 5-0 defeat at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday to confirm their berth in the quarterfinals. With Thursday’s result, Muktijoddha SKC also moved to the last eight along with Russell from the Group B and Baridhara became the second side to exit from the group stages along with Farashganj who suffered a 1-0 defeat against Chittagong Abahani on the same day.
National striker Zahid Hossain Ameli and Nigerian forward Kingsley Chigozie netted a brace each to guide Russell to an emphatic victory while their new Cameroonian recruit Paul Emile scored the other.
Meanwhile in the day’s first match, Khaled Ahmed came off the bench to score the all-important goal in the dying moment of the game that lifted Chittagong Abahani to the knockout round with a game intact.
