Kruif’s presence in Super Cup a possibility

The Bangladesh national football team’s Dutch head coach, Lodewijk de Kruif might tour Dhaka in the middle of June to observe the local players’ condition in the upcoming Super Cup.
The Bangladesh Football Federation invited de Kruif to monitor the Super Cup, which is scheduled to begin on June 14, in order to select the national team for the forthcoming international assignments.
‘About one week ago we sent an invitation letter to the Dutch coaches to study the Super Cup but they are yet to confirm their arrival. We are waiting for their decision and if they do not respond, we will again give them a reminder,’ informed Abu Nayeem Shohag, general secretary of BFF.
‘If they agree to watch the Super Cup then we will provide them air tickets, accommodation, food and local transportation,’ he added.
de Kruif and his assistant Rene Koster will take charge of the national team for two years from the first week of July but the BFF are yet to sign the final agreement with them.
Shohag, however, was hopeful that the final agreement between the coaches will be signed as soon as possible.
‘We are now working on some clauses of the final contract and we will soon negotiate with the agent of the coaches. Hopefully the agreement will be signed between the two parties sooner rather than later,’ Shohag said.
Meanwhile, even though the Super Cup is just 15 days away the BFF are yet to take any initiatives to set up the prestigious tournament.
‘The competition committee has been assigned to organise the tourney but its chairman Tabith Awal is abroad and he will return home tomorrow [Friday]. After that we will start our preparations for the tournament,’ said Shohag.
Although the governing body of football are yet to start their preparation work, the eight participating teams have already begun their training camp for the Super Cup.
