Tendulkar slams double century against Proteas as India reach 401/3 in second ODI
Master batsman Sachin Tendulkar became the first man to reach a double century in a one-day international as he devastated South Africa’s bowlers, hammering his 200 not out from 147 deliveries in the second ODI in Gwalior.
He reached the milestone with a single off Charl Langeveldt in the final over of India’s innings.
India, who batted first after winning the toss, amassed 401/3. They lead the three-match series 1-0.
The previous best score in a one-day international innings was 194, achieved by Saeed Answar for Pakistan against India in 1997 and by Charles Coventry, with an unbeaten knock, for Zimbabwe against Bangladesh last year.
