Film actress Pori Moni, model Mariam Akhter Mou and three others were sent to jail today on completion of remands in three separate cases filed with Banani and Mohammadpur police stations under the Narcotics Control Act. The three others are: Raz Multimedia owner Nazrul Islam Raz, his associate Md Sabuj Ali and Pori Moni’s associate Ashraful Islam Dipu.
Criminal Investigation Department did not submit any remand prayer for the five today.
Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondol rejected Pori Moni and Dipu’s bail petitions and sent them to jail after CID Inspector Kazi Golam Mostafa, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the duo before it on completion of their six-day remand in two phases.
In the forwarding report, the IO said Pori Moni and Dipu gave important information about the recovery of narcotics from their residences which were being verified. If they get bail they will tamper with the investigation and they can leave the country. So, the IO appealed to the court to confine them in jail until the investigation is completed.
Defence, however, submitted a petition seeking bail on grounds that Pori Moni was framed falsely and she has committed to a number of films which she cannot complete if she is in jail.
The same court sent Raz and Sabuj to jail after Investigation Officer CID Inspector Md Giaus Uddin produced them before it on completion of their six-day remand in two phases.
The IO also prayed for keeping them in jail until the investigation is completed.
