BNP MP Salauddin Quader Chowdhury has said, he did not give wrong information in the nomination paper. He said, during state of emergency the joint forces took his educational certificates. That is why he marked ‘no’ in the space provided in the nomination form for noting educational qualification and certificate. The Election commission has taken initiative to scrap BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s membership alleging that he gave wrong information in the nomination paper.
Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, who is now in Singapore, told the BBC, “No, I have not given separate information in two elections. In this year’s election I wrote ‘no’ in the nomination paper’s space for metioning educational qualification and certificate, I have said nowhere that I have no educational qualification. I have simply said, ‘no’. This means there is no certificate with me. Because when general Moeen U Ahmed joint forces arrested me they took all documents from my house and office. So I have not told a lie. As there was no certificate with me I mentioned ‘no’ in the nomination form.”
Replying to a question Salauddin Quader said, “There was no space for certificate and educational qualification. There were not separate spaces for the purposes. I marked ‘no’. The Election Commission called me and asked this question. I replied to their question.”
When his attention was drawn to the fact that the joint forces took his certificate but did not take his educational qualification, Salauddin Quader said, “As I had no opportunity to produce certificate so how could I prove my educational qualification.”
He also said “The Election Commission summoned me before poll and there was a hearing. I explained everything face to face. There is no hide and seek story. Although the BBC may not understand but I have no problem to realise why after the poll, the EC has take this initiative.”
