Diana dress ‘is fashion history’

June 30, 2010

A Chilean museum said it was willing to pay a princely sum for one of Diana, Princess of Wales’ first official gowns because it was an important piece of fashion history.
The strapless, silk taffeta dress’ revealing cut and striking black colour caused a minor scandal when the then Lady Diana Spencer was pictured wearing it to a charity event in 1981.
But while some thought it too daring, it helped turn the 19-year-old royal bride-to-be into an overnight fashion icon.
“It is a very different dress from what royalty wore at that time in Read more

Angelina Jolie hit the red carpet in a super-tight leather bandage dress for the premiere of her husband Brad Pitt’s new film last night.

The actress wowed the crowds at the LA premiere for Inglorious Basterds when she showed up in the sexy black number.

Ange kept it simple by teaming the dress with black strappy heels and natural looking hair and make up.

Although Angelina looked stunning as always, we couldn’t help but notice she appeared to be verging on the skinny side. Let’s just hope it was down to the tight fitted dress and her famous curves aren’t gone for ever.

Bibi Russel shows gamcha collection at Kolkata Fashion Week

April 4, 2009

Bibi Russell showcases her collection first time at ‘Kolkatta Fashion Week’.
This is the first time that I am showing my work in India Fashion Week and I am absolutely thrilled to show in Kolkata Fashion Week. This year has been declared the Year of Natural Fibre, which I am extremely excited about. For the last 15 years, I have been working hard with our weavers and craftspeople to promote our natural fibres. I am doubly honoured, as a Bengali, to participate in the Kolkata Fashion Week, where the focus is on our magical weaves.
I get inspiration for my designs from the people of Bangladesh and the beautiful colours which can be found here, especially in the villages. I also gain a lot of inspiration from going to the villages and seeing the weavers and craftspeople at work.
All my fabrics are hand-woven, and natural. I do not use synthetic materials. The fabrics I use are Khadi, Cotton, Silk, Gamcha, Jute yarn fabric, Tribal fabrics, recycle fabrics and of course the legendary Jamdani, which Read more

Get Anne Hathaway’s Dewy Oscar Glow

February 25, 2009

Anne Hathaway may have walked away empty handed from Sunday night’s Oscar ceremony, but she won the beauty gong in our eyes.
The actress has adopted a Golden era of Hollywood look of late, and has always championed her pale skin, refusing to wear fake tan, which makes her the ideal choice for a beauty icon.
We loved her look at The Academy Awards, teaming her stunning oyster coloured mermaid gown with glowing skin, simple accessories and a elegant up-do.
For you to recreate Anne’s Oscar look, it’s all about getting a flawless complexion, and making your lips the main focal point.
Her brown eyes always stand out, but she rarely opts for dramatic eye make-up, preferring instead to stick to stick to a nude base.
Anne’s lips however always look bee stung and beautiful, usually coated in a dab of red lipstick, rather than sticky gloss.
Considering this is the girl who made her new in Disney flick, The Princess Diaries her look Read more

Style Showdown: Kelly Brook Vs Amanda Holden

January 14, 2009

Following the announcement yesterday that Kelly Brook is to join the panel of Britain’s Got Talent, we imagine Amanda Holden to not be feeling too happy right now.
Someone who is younger, arguably sexier and fresher than she is has been hired by Cowell to give the third series of the show a boost- similar to the hiring Cheryl Cole to replace Sharon Osbourne, on the X Factor last year, some might say.
We all know how that one worked out, is Cowell hoping for similar success with Kelly? If so, she seems quite an odd choice considering that she hasn’t made a (good) movie in years and is pretty much known now for her love life rather than anything else.
We’ll admit that we were pretty enamoured with her when she appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, but since then, all she seems to have done is make-up and break-up with her Hollywood fiance.
Perhaps this is just the break she needs to change people’s perception of her, and to win a place in the nation’s heart. Does she have the ability to become the next Cheryl Cole? We’ll see.
To really weight up the Read more
