Tagore creations on monsoon presentedThe famous Tagore song Badolo dinero prothomo kodom phul has become a signature tune to glorify the distinctive features of the monsoon.
Along with the song, artistes presented an array of songs and poems on monsoon from the rich collection of Rabindranath Tagore’s compositions in the rainy Friday evening at the Music and Dance Centre of
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.Nargis Chowdhury and Abdul Wadud rendered songs while Laila Afroz and Rashed Hasan recited poems at the programme titled Badol Megh-e Madol Baje organised by Padatik Bangladesh.
Each of the song was followed by recitation of a poem. Nargis Chowdhury presented popular songs such as Badolo dinero prothomo kodom phul, Megher pore megh jomechhe, Nibiro megher chhayay mon, Chhaya ghonaichhe bone bone, Emono dine tare bola jay and Mone ki dwidha rekhe gele chole.
The audience also enjoyed sweet romantic songs rendered by Abdul Wadud such as Amar priyar chhaya, Ashar sondhya ghoniye elo, Eso go jele diye jao, Jhorojhoro borishe baridhara, Aji jhorojhoro mukhoro badoro dine and Krishnokoli ami tarei boli.
Laila Afroz recited Tagore’s poems such as Badolo Megh-E Madol Baje, Borshamongol, Ashar and Meghdut.
She also recited two poems from Tagore’s Nobel winning collection of poems titled Song Offerings [English version of Gitanjali]. She presented Clouds Heap Upon Clouds and In the Deep Shadows of the Rainy July to entertain the audience in a rainy evening at the end of June.
Rashed Hasan also got applause for his accomplished recitation of poems such as Brishti Pore Tapur Tupur, Meghla Dine, Sraboner Dharar Moto Poruk Jhore and Sonar Tori, Borshar Dine.
A remarkable number of audience enjoyed the programme. ‘I enjoyed each and every presentation,’ Mafidul Islam, a delighted audience, said.
