Gazir Pat being promoted by NCC Bank
NCC Bank Ltd has taken up an initiative to rekindle interest in Gazir Pat and Gazir Gaan, through commercials for the bank’s new product “mBridge”, produced to communicate with the masses, says a press release.
“mBridge” is a foreign remittance payment card, the first of its kind facilitating inward remittance faster, automated and hassle free.
Gazir Pat and Gaan are part of a longstanding tradition of our folk heritage, dating back to the 7th century. Various episodes from the life of Gazi Pir are depicted on the pat and the story is narrated through Gazir Gaan. However, this tradition is slowly losing ground. Nowadays it is hard to find the pat and the melody of Gazir Gaan. Some pat are preserved in Ashutosh Museum (Kolkata), Gurusaday Dutt Sangraha (Kolkata), Lokoshilpa Museum of Sonargaon (Narayanganj) and Bangla Academy (Dhaka).
NCC Bank is proud to promote this heritage of our country considering it as a corporate social responsibility. BBDO Bangladesh has conceptualised and supervised the commercial, while Mahmudul Islam of Kino Films has directed it. A total of 783 hand painted illustrations by eminent Patua Raghunath Chakraborty were used to complete the commercial. Musician Limon and singer Sumi teamed up to conjure the magic of Gazir Gaan. The commercial is being aired on different TV channels.
