Peyara Begum, 45, mother of five children and widow of the late Abdu Miah of Khaiyer at Rasulpur of Debidwar in Comilla, was whipped 200 times by a fatwa (religious decree) committee for an alleged relation with one Mamun Miah, who was whipped 100 times Saturday night.

Siddons hails captaincy move

 Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons has hailed the BCB’s move to change the captain of the side and said it was handed to the right person with Mashrafee bin Murtaza replacing Mohammad Ashraful.
‘It’s good for Ash (Ashraful) and tough for Mash (Mashrafee). It’s tough to captain the national team on the world stage. New skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza hopes to produce improve performance as Bangladesh cricket team leave for Barbados, West Indies on a five weeks tour today.
Ace pace bowler Mashrafe replaced Mohammad Ashraful as captain of the national cricket team. His deputy on the tour will be World’s number one-day all rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
