Renowned playback singer Andrew Kishore and popular modern singer Kona mesmerised an audience of over 200 people at a musical evening in Rajshahi city on Saturday.
Grameen Phone, one of the leading cell phone operators, organised the five-hour event at Uttara Community Center in recognition of their prioritised subscribers who are branded as Star Subscribers.
Andrew Kishore began with the song “Shilpir ghore jonmo” and consecutively rendered several of his popular songs including “Haire manush”, “Ami gyan harabo”, Amar sara deho” and “‘Dak diachhen doyal”.
The seasoned singer amidst repeated requests for songs nostalgically recalled the banks of Padma river and streets of Rajshah as he grew up in the city.
He said he owed a debt to the people of Rajshahi and Kishore Kumar as he came to be known as Andrew Kishore who rendered the songs of Kishore Kumar.
He also rendered the songs “Ogo bideshini”, “Jiboner golpo”, before ending with his popular ‘”Duniata mosto boro”.
Earlier, Kona ruled the audience and she rendered some 10 songs.
She came up with “Lajuk patar moto lojjaboti”, “Bristi ki tarchhondo chhuyechhe”, and “Dhin ta na de re na”. After the break, she rendered “Oondhokare bosot kori”, “khub chena chena”, “Lal tuktuke bou” and more.
