December 26, 2012

Hundreds of music fans of Chittagong city thronged Foy’s Lake last Saturday evening; the occasion was a concert featuring popular Kolkata-based band Chandrabindoo.
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in association with Channel i and State Bank of India in Bangladesh organised the music event, titled “An evening of Rock music”. The band, which hit the stage, rocked Concord Amusement Park at Foy’s Lake for two hours.
When composers and musicians Anindya Chaterjee and Upal Sengupta took the stage, the excitement rose to feverish pitch.
The evening began with the song “Chari dike phike hoye aasha andhokar”, leaving the more popular “Shokale uthe aami mon-e mon-e boli” and “Keu bhalobeshe hoy” for later. The tempo increased when the duo delivered exhilarating performances of “Jhil mil raat tarai tarai”, “Bheshe aashe adarer nauka” and “Sweet heart”.
Assistant Indian High Commissioner to Chittagong, Somnath Ghosh, was the chief guest at the event. “Channel i Shera Kontho” contestants Luipa, Puja and local artistes Beauty and Manir also performed at the event.
