Popular small screen actress and also a journalist Tazin Ahmed died on Tuesday afternoon at a hospital in the capital. She was 43.
Tazin was rushed to the Regent Hospital in Uttara at noon on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack. She was kept on life support. Doctors pronounced her dead at 4:35 pm. She has left behind her ailing mother Dilara Jolly to mourn her.
‘She was suffering from Asthma for many years. Her body will be kept at the morgue of Kurmitola General Hospital tonight. We will decide the time and place of her namaj-e-janaza and burial after taking permission from her ailing mother tomorrow [Wednesday],’ general secretary of Abhinay Shilpi Shangha Ahsan Habib Nasim told New Age.
Born on July 30, 1975 in Noakhali district, Tazin Ahmed completed post graduation from mass communication and journalism department of Dhaka University and joined Bangla daily Bhorer Kagoj in 1994 and later Prothom Alo in 1997. She also wrote for Anondo Bhubon.
Tazin made her small screen debut in 1996 through the single episode TV play Shesh Dekha Shekh Noy, which was written by Dilara Jolly and directed by Sheikh Niyamat Ali.
She was an actress, TV anchor, director and playwright. Tazin wrote more than 12 plays including Briddhashram, Anur Ekdin, Ek Akasher Taara, Shampurak and others. Besides, she directed a number of plays like Jatak and Jogphol.
She acted in TV plays like Tomar Khola Haowa, Atopor Bibaho Barshiki, daily soap The Family and others and acted opposite actors like Azizul Hakim, Sahriar Najim joy, Sahiduzzaman Selim, Litu Anam and Jahid Hasan, among others.
Tazin also tried her hand at theatre. She joined theatre troupe Aranyak Natya Dal in 2000 and was a member of the troupe until her death. She had acted in Aranyak’s acclaimed production Mayur Singhasan and regularly acted at different the street plays of the troupe.
