Salahuddin surprised

June 4, 2015

Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin on Wednesday expressed his wonder regarding the dramatic resignation of FIFA chief Sepp Blatter. Blatter, who visited Bangladesh twice in 2006 and 2012, stepped down as president of world football’s governing body FIFA on Tuesday amid corruption scandal. The Swiss was re-elected for fifth term only on last week.
‘I was really surprised with his decision,’ Salahuddin told New Age on Wednesday.
‘It’s not just me, but I think many other football chiefs were also surprised.’
Salahuddin, who attended the FIFA congress in Zurich and voted on behalf of Bangladesh in the elections, however, said Blatter’s decision will not have any impact here.
‘Bangladesh always maintains a good relation with FIFA, so there should not be any problem for us,’ he said.
The BFF boss believed football world will elect a dynamic person as a replacement of Blatter, who held the position of FIFA chief for the last 17 years.
‘FIFA is a dynamic organisation and I hope a dynamic person will take the charge,’ he said. ‘Whoever gets elected as president, Bangladesh will maintain its good relation with him.’
