Terminated national football coach Lodewijk de Kruif left for Netherlands on Wednesday but kept the door open for a possible return at the helm sometime next year.
The Bangladesh Football Federation terminated the contract of Dutchman Kruif last week citing negligence of duties as the coach spent more than seven months at home during his reign of 16 months.
Both parties later reached a consensus over the procedures of termination, which helped BFF avoid giving the coach any compensation other than his due salaries of four months.
Kruif claimed there is a chance he can reunite with his former charges next year.
‘That is not final ending because we also spoke about coming back later in 2015,’ Kruif said prior to his departure.
‘Maybe I will return in May-June 2015 as there are many programmes of BFF and national teams, lots of tournaments are coming and we are working at this moment.
‘There is always an opening. I will be a regularly in contact with BFF president Salahuddin [Kazi Salahuddin] and Tabith [vice-president Tabith Awual].
Kruif admitted that he was eager to continue the relation with the BFF.
‘For me it’s not a happy ending. I wanted to work, I should be with my team in the Jessore but it did not happen.’
‘I tried to continue the process we started here last one-and-half year ago to develop the football in Bangladesh, to find the talents, to make a new national team, to do something for youth.
‘In the middle of the process we came to a point that it was better to separate for this moment and I’m very sad about it. My heart is crying because I wanted to continue and that is the feelings that with my boys and staffs.’
‘We have to separate maybe in the future we can rejoin and make something beautiful of it,’ said Kruif, adding that he has some offers from Africa and Latin America.
‘I have a few proposals and some teams interested in me especially from Africa and also Latin America. But I have to be honest that my first intention is Bangladesh and it always was,’
