Jibon suspended from national camp

Bangladesh striker Nabib Newaj Jibon has been suspended from the national football team’s ongoing camp by coach Javier Cabrera on Tuesday due to disciplinary issues.
All enlisted footballers were scheduled to report to the camp on Monday. But after Jibon turned up on Tuesday, the head coach did not allow him to join the team.
“It is about reporting time, he reported late for the camp,” Cabrera told to the reporters at a press conference today. “We have certain plans for many players in the camp and decided to replace him.”
Cabrera replaced the veteran striker with Sajjad Hossain from Saif Sporting Club.
Jibon told media that the incident was a consequence of a ‘miscommunication’.
Usually, all players get texts or calls after being called to camp. But he did not get either and thus was unaware of the camp.
He claimed to only find out after National Team Manager Iqbal Hossain called him on Monday when Jibon was in Bogura. He said he rushed immediately but arrived late due to traffic and bad weather.
While the 31-year-old striker tried to explain the situation to the Spanish coach, he was told to speak to the federation. The federation informed him that they failed to connect with him.
