Feni taste second win

February 16, 2013

Feni Soccer Club registered only their second victory after they dished out a single-goal defeat to Arambagh KS in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Shaheed Salam Stadium in Feni on Friday.
Liberian striker Anthony Paul Doe scored the all-important goal in the eighth minute, taking advantage of a defensive mistake as Anthony did not commit any error in placing the ball into the far post.
This was Feni Soccer Club’s first win after six consecutive defeats which enabled the club to move level with Arambagh at the bottom of the standings. Feni Soccer and Arambagh both have six points each from 11 matches, but Feni are second from bottom due to a superior goal difference.
Third from bottom Brothers Union are just three points adrift and the battle to secure survival have intensified.
Mir Faruque was appointed as the new coach of Feni Soccer before the game against Arambagh, replacing the outgoing Mahmudul Haque Liton.
While talking to reporters at the post-match briefing, Faruque was optimistic ahead of the relegation battle.
‘My team did not play well but we won the match,’ said Faruque. Faruque was previously the coach of Feni Soccer’s Under-16 team.
‘We should have won the match by more than one goal but Sajib (Aminur Rahman ) and Wassiou (Okalawan Oladikpikro) wasted two scoring chances while Arambagh got only one opportunity. After our win over Arambagh, the players are now more motivated to avoid the relegation but I don’t know whether I will continue as I was assigned to the job on a temporary basis.
