Experienced forwards Enamul Haque and Towhidul Alam Sabuz are set to make a return to the national fold after a long gap, officials of the Bangladesh Football Federation said on Tuesday. Both Enamul and Sabuz have been drafted in the Bangladesh preliminary squad for the World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers that is to be submitted to the Asian Football Confederation by May 10.Enamul, who is in supreme form this season for his club Mutijoddha Sangsad, last represented the country in the 2010 Asian Games.
He struck 10 goals so far in the season for his club with five goals in the Federation Cup and five others in the ongoing Premier League.
Sabuz last played for the Under-23 national team in 2012 Pokhara Cup in Nepal.
He is in rich vein of form for his club Mohammedan this season grabbing five goals — two in Federation Cup and three in the Bangladesh Premier League.
The other players to have been included in the initial squad are — Rahmatganj MFS young striker Mannaf Rabbi, Brothers Union’s promising midfielder Kawas Ali Rabbi, Mohammedan midfielder Masuk Mia Jonny and discarded defender Rezaul Karim Reza.
The Bangladesh Football Federation is eligible to send an initial squad comprising of at least 50 players.
‘We are giving the priority of those players who have been playing regularly and performing well,’ said assistant coach Saiful Bari Titu, adding that in competition like this there is little room for experiment.
Dutch coach Lodewijk de Kruif will make the final decision on the initial squad once he arrive to Dhaka.
