Tigers on top as WI 380 all out

Bangladesh bounced back firmly in the second Test in St Lucia thanks to three pace bowlers, who bowled their hearts out to leave West Indies all out for 380 runs on the second day on Sunday. Al-Amin Hossain claimed three wickets while Robiul Islam grabbed two as West Indies folded 11 overs into the second session, adding 134 runs to the overnight 246-3. Shafiul Islam and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam also had their share in the success, taking one wicket apiece, as West Indies collapsed in the morning before two late fifty partnerships lifted the side.
Bangladesh, in reply, reached 25-1 at tea with Shamsur Rahman being the only batsman dismissed.
Tamim, who survived a strong leg-before appeal, was unbeaten on 23 with Anamul Haque (one not out)
West Indies thought they had Tamim just before the break when Shannon Gabriel hit him on the toe with a yorker. The umpire declared Tamim not out but West Indies reviewed the decision and hawk-eye showed that the ball pitched outside the leg-stump leaving Tamim safe.
Earlier, Shivnarine Chanderpaul held West Indies innings together with yet another unbeaten half-century, 84 off 198 balls, his 65th Test fifty that included just eight boundaries.
Bangladesh were on the top from the beginning as Al-Amin and Robiul bowled in extremely tight length without giving overnight batsmen Darren Bravo and Chanderpaul any room to score.
The first run came off the bat in the seventh over and pressure began to mould bringing some instant success for Bangladesh.
Bravo, whose patience was severely tested by Al-Amin and Robiul, finally caved in when he edged Robiul behind the stumps adding just two to his overnight score of 44.
Bravo reviewed the decision but the replay showed a big edge before the ball perched into the gloves of Mushfiqur Rahim.
Al-Amin was rewarded for his persistent good bowling with two wickets in two balls, first inducing an edge from Jermaine Blackwood to Anamul at first slip and then drawing Denesh Ramdin forward for a first-ball duck for Mushfiq to complete the catch.
Shafiul soon joined the party making Kemar Roach Mushfiq’s third catch of the morning that left West Indies reeling at 269-7.
Things could have been much better for Bangladesh if Mominul Haque could hold a simple catch of Jerome Taylor off Shafiul.
The ball went into the sky as Taylor began wild slogging and Mominul had almost a minute to settle beneath the ball.
But he somehow managed to drop it something that made Bangladesh pay dearly as Taylor, who was then batting on 18, went on to score 40 off 32 balls.
He added 54 runs with Chanderpaul in just 52 balls easing much of the pressure.
Mushfiq also missed a trick as he persisted with seam bowlers when Taylor launched the counter-attack.
The introduction of spin brought an immediate result as Tajiul made Taylor a catch of Mahmudullah at long-on in only his second over.
Bangladesh’s problem with tail-enders, however, continued as Sulieman Benn added 52 runs with Chanderpaul to help West Indies’ past 350-run mark.
Al-Amin removed Benn for 25 after the lunch break and Robuil left the leg-stump of last batsman Shannon Gabriel cart-wheeling next over to warp-up the West Indies innings.
