‘Tamim doesn’t want to play T20Is’

Bangladesh opener and one-day international captain Tamim Iqbal doesn’t want to return and play T20 cricket with the national team anymore, said Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan on Saturday.
‘He [Tamim] told me, please don’t force me to return. If you say so, I must return and play. But I don’t really want to play in this [T20] format,’ Nazmul told reporters at Mirpur on Saturday.
The BCB chief further added that he made the request over phone.
‘I talked to him over telephone. In fact, I told him to come back in the T20 team. Why would you leave? You are our best opener. Of course you should come and play.’
Tamim, who has scored two consecutive fifties in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League for the Minister Group Dhaka, played his last T20I against Zimbabwe in March 2020.
