January 27, 2018

Right-arm pacer Shehan Madushanka became fourth bowler in history to claim a hat-trick on debut as Sri Lanka crushed Bangladesh by 79 runs to clinch the tri-nation one-day international tournament in Mirpur on Saturday.
Madushanka claimed Bangladesh’s last three wickets as he finished with 3-26 tohelp Sri Lanka bowl out the Tigers for 142 runs in 41.1 overs after they were restricted to 221 runs.
Madushanka took the wickets of Rubel Hossain and Mashrafe Mortaza in the last two balls of his sixth over before he dismissed Mahmudullah in the first ball of his next over to complete his hat-trick.
He has joined now Kagiso Rabada, Taijul Islam and Wanidu Hasaranga to achieve such landmark.
Mahmudullah staged a lone battle for the Tigers with 76 off 92 balls but he lacked support from a Bangladesh side, which missed the batting of all-rounder due to a finger injury he suffered in the game.
Medium pacer Dushmantha Chameera and spinner Akila Dananjaya also claimed two wickets each for Sri Lanka.
Earlier, pacer Rubel Hossain claimed 4-46 while Mustafizur Rahman took 2-29 as Bangladesh bowled out Sri Lanka to a modest score on a sluggish pitch.
Opener Upal Tharanga made highest 56 off 99 deliveries while stand-in skipper Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan Dickwella struck 45 and 42 respectively after Mehedi Hasan gave Bangladesh an early breakthrough removing opener Danushka Gunathilaka (six) in the third over.
Kusal Mendis made quick-fire 28 off just nine deliveries but Mashrafee bin Murtaza removed the left-hander to halt them to 42-2.
Dickwella added 71 runs with Tharanga for the third wicket before Mohammad Saifuddin gave the Tigers an important breakthrough.
Tharanga and Chandimal steadied their innings and took them to 158-3 before Bangladeshi bowlers bounced back in the match by dismissing the rest seven wickets for only 63 runs.aaaa
