Centrally controlled by the Directorate of Primary Education, both the school and madrassa students needed to face a 600 marks test for six subjects and GPA1 (marks between 33 and 39) has been fixed as the minimum score for a student to declare him/her successful in the exams.

The Manipur High School in Mirpur topped the list of best 20 schools in country and Viqarunnisa Noon School stood second and Motijheel Ideal School took the third position. Explaining the reasons behind huge success rate, the ministers told the newsmen that students’ hard labour, teachers’ contribution and strict monitoring by the ministry were behind it.
Replying to a query, the minister said that he had sent a letter to the education ministry requesting the latter to increase the number of scholarships. Students having high scores in the exams will be chosen for scholarship. The scholarships will be announced by March.
When asked about the poor performance in Mathematics, the secretary of the ministry AKM Abdul Awal Majumdar said: “The students’ weakness in mathematics is our national problem and everybody knows it.”
The results are available on the website of the Directorate of Primary Education (www.dpe.gov.bd) and with the schools and district and upazila primary education offices.
