13 killed in road accidents

Thirteen people were killed and 31 others injured in road accidents in Munshiganj, Manikganj, Comilla, Chittagong, Naogaon and Rangpur on Saturday and yesterday.
Our Munshiganj correspondent reports, four people were killed and eight others injured as a bus hit a pickup from the opposite direction in Keyotkhali of Shreenagar upazila on Saturday, said police.
The deceased were Shahjahan, 45, his wife Nasima, 35, of Deulbhog in the upazila; the pickup driver Md Ali and his helper Hridoy.
Shahjahan and Hridoy died at two hospitals in the capital.
In Manikganj, three members of a family were killed and three others injured as a truck rammed a microbus on Dhaka-Aricha highway in sadar upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased Razzak Sheikh, 40, Nurul, 38, and Sujon, 10, were of Faridpur.
Injured Lal Miah, 50, Rafiqul, 16, and the microbus driver, Monirul, 30, were rushed to Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
Later, Lal Miah and Monirul were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
UNB from Comilla reports, three people were killed and 10 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Bijoypara in Burichang yesterday.
The deceased Zakir, 30, Sabuj, 14, and Rakib, 4, son of Sohel Mia, were residents of the upazila.
Sabuj, who was fishing in the ditch, died instantly as the bus hit him.
In Chittagong, CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, Abu Syed of Patiya, was killed and four other unidentified people were injured as a bus hit the auto-rickshaw in Shantirhat Bazar area of the upazila yesterday.
The injured were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Meanwhile, Swapan Das, 56, was killed and his brother injured as a truck hit them in Lal Dighirpar of the port city yesterday.
Injured Tapan, 60, of Dewan Bazar area, was rushed to the CMCH.
In Naogaon, motorcyclist Abdullah Al Mamun, 29, deputy assistant agriculture officer, of Goneshpur in Manda upazila, died as a bus hit his motorbike on Naogaon-Rajshahi road in Satbaria of the upazila yesterday.
In Rangpur, Khondkar Estiak Ahmed, UNO of Badarganj, and four others were injured as a tractor hit Estiak’s jeep on Rangpur-Badarganj road in front of ABL Cold Storage yesterday evening.
