REHAB fair begins in Chittagong

Three-day REHAB Fair 2010 showcasing real estate and housing projects began at the Chittagong Club on Thursday.
The chairman of the parliamentary stranding committee on the housing and public works ministry, ABM Fazlee Karim Chowdhury, inaugurated the fair, organised by the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh.
Ninety-four real estate and housing companies and three financial institutions set up stalls at the fair, which remains open between 10:00am and 9:00pm every day.
The REHAB chairman, Tanvirul Haque, presided over the inaugural session. The Chittagong chapter REHAB president, Jamshed Hassan, and the fair committee chairman, Murad Iqbal Chowdhury, also spoke.
Fazlee Karim said the government could provide 12,000 to 14,000 housing facilities against the demand of more than 1.50 lakh a year.
‘REHAB has a vital role to play in solving housing problems,’ he said adding that the government should arrange duty-free import facility of housing materials for REHAB members to boost up the sector.
The Amin Mohammad Foundation, Asain Land Development, Bio Properties, Building Technologist and Ideas, Cabasati Properties and Trust Alliance Technologies are co-sponsors of the fair.
