College level theatre fest begins in Barisal

A three-day college level divisional drama festival, on the liberation war, started at Barisal Aswani Kumar Hall on Friday night.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised the festival as part of its year-long, nationwide programme to celebrate 40 years of independence of the country.
The inaugural ceremony of the festival was presided over by S M Arif-ur-Rahman, deputy commissioner and president of district Shilpakala Academy. Abu Hena Muhammad Rahmatul Munim, divisional commissioner, Advocate S M Iqbal, former member of district Shilpakala Academy, Syed Dulal, coordinator of the divisional festival, among others, spoke at the occasion.
Syed Dulal informed, under a special project by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, a country-wide college level competition was organised to select one team from each of 64 districts of the country. The selected teams were then provided with a special script and direction, to enlighten the next generation for constructing a creative Bangladesh, he said.
As per schedule ‘Mukhosher Antoraley’, written by Shahidul Islam Shishir and directed by Nabila Nasrin of Govt Brojo Mohon College, Barisal and ‘Beerpala’, written by Atonu Karanjai and directed by Anwar Shamim of Bhola Govt College, Bhola, were staged on Friday night.
‘Banophuley Bishlata’ written and directed by Animesh Saha Litu of Amanullah Mahabidayalaya of Bhandaria, Pirojpiur, and ‘Nij Bhumey Parobashi’, written by Atik Bablu and directed by Kazi Shafiq of Jhalakathi Govt College, Jhalakathi, will be staged on Saturday evening.
‘Toor’ written by Zahangir Kabir Khokan and directed by Tuhin Khan of Barguna Govt College, Barguna and ‘Agun Mukha”, written by M Nurul Islam and directed by Mujahidul Islam Prince of Patuakhali Govt College, Patuakhali, will be staged this evening.
