February 9, 2010

The government will prepare a list of non-government educational institutions on the basis of index system for MPO (monthly payment order) allocation.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said this at a press briefing held in the ministry yesterday.
New MPO allocation would be under index system, he said adding, “A total of 100 points will be given for MPO enlistment consideration. Distribution of points will be-25 points for old  institutions  which were approved long ago, 25 for public examination results, 25 for student’s enrolment and 25 on the basis of percentage of success  in the public examinations.”
The non-government educational institutions should submit its applications by February 25 under the new MPO policy, education minister said.
The minister said, “We don’t make any list of how many new educational institutions would be enlisted for MPO allocation. It depends on fund.”
The government, he said, had allocated Tk112 crore for MPO allocation against new enlistment of non-government educational institutions across the country.
In reply to a query on enlistment policy, he said, “New MPO policy will be followed strictly before enlistment of educational institutions. Enlistment won’t be under any political consideration.”   Salary structure for the headmasters and assistant headmasters of junior high school and superintendents and assistant superintendents of Dakhil madrashas have been upgraded in the new MPO policy, Nahid said.
About 3,118 headmasters, 12,400 assistant headmasters, 5,141 superintendents and 5,141 assistant superintendents would enjoy higher scale of salary, the minister added.
Enlistment for MPO allocation of newly established non-government educational institutions remains suspended since 2004.
